Batterer's Intervention Program (BIP)

Domestic violence should not happen to anybody, but it does - and when it does, there is help.

Bridgeway Center Inc. offers a certified Batter’s Intervention program. This program can also be effective as “Prevention” for individuals who have self-identified domestic violence or are at risk for domestic violence behaviors.

Domestic violence should not happen to anybody, but it does - and when it does, there is help. Maybe you have lived with abuse, maybe it happened just once; maybe you work or live next to someone who is being abused right now.

This comprehensive program is no less than 6 months in duration. Initially participants receive an in-depth assessment to ensure the most affective course of service. Group sessions are held once per week. The length of the program allows participants to develop, practice and give feedback on their newly developed skills. Domestic violence is a reality, help is available.

This program is intended to provide a consistent community and state-wide model of intervention that will identify and promote violence-free behavior among family and household members. Such intervention will challenge the beliefs of batterers in order to hold them accountable for their behavior, provide alternatives for more appropriate behaviors, and establish a system of monitoring to report compliance and non-compliance to the court. Intervention standards shall promote victim safety, coordinate referrals to other agencies for additional services as needed.
