Bridgeway Center Inc. Participates in Veterans'
Stand-Down Day

NOVEMBER 10, 2008

Fort Walton Beach – Bridgeway Center dispatched one of its professional counselors, Iraq War Veteran Craig Boydston, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide Behavioral Health Screenings to veterans who attended the Veterans' Stand-down Day on October 24th.  The Stand-down was an outreach project designed to reach veterans who may find themselves homeless or otherwise unable to connect with VA and other support resources.  The focus of the event was to connect Veterans with a wide range of local resources to enhance the quality of their lives. Ten percent of the approximately 120 veterans who came to the stand-down sought out Craig Boydston, LCSW for Behavioral Health Screenings, Guidance and Consultation.  In keeping with the goal of enhanced quality of life Craig utilized various behavioral health screening tools including a Mood Disorder Questionnaire to assist veterans with identifying life issues that could benefit from local support services.  Both men and women conferred with Craig on a variety of issues ranging from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to consultation on reestablishing disability rating.  Many of those who visited Craig had been informed of the stand-down by members of the Bridgeway Center Independent Living Program who work daily assisting homeless individuals.  Bridgeway Center extends its appreciation to the First Presbyterian Church for hosting this much needed event.  Bridgeway Center is proud of its record of participation in collaborative community efforts such as the Veterans Stand-down to enhance the quality of life for members of our community.
